About the Clearwater Chorus

Bob Drick, Conducting (l to r)

Nancy was in the choir in high school. Very likely one of the many things that attracted me to her. We've had various projects, as you've seen, and Nancy was always welcome and willing to sit in when needed. But she joined the Clearwater Chorus over ten years ago, and has excelled quite nicely with them, having opened for or shared the stage with such luminaries as Andy Williams and John Tesh.

Our daughter, too, who has the voice of a lovely bird, joined the Clearwater Chorus ranks several years ago and has been a member off and on when available.

This year, after some gentle arm-twisting I took the plunge. As the Clearwater Chorus is searching for a new conductor, I was fortunate enough to be in attendance for the first of three they are "auditioning" - Robert Drick. He was a consumate professional, a little curmudgeon-like, but it was wonderful to experience his passion and talent. Clearly he has been taking singers and turning them into musicians for quite a while.

After a very quick seven-week rehearsal schedule this fall, the seasonal concert was held on November 15th:

I wouldn't say the performance was flawless, but I didn't hear any complaints, and there were nearly 1000 attendees in Clearwater's lushly appointed and acoustically engineered Ruth Eckerd Hall.
