AMBIENT LIVE MUSIC (Songs below)

Recent performance!

Sang "Songs of the Season" and for all times with wife and daughter and the rest of the Clearwater Chorus at Ruth Eckerd Hall on November 7th, 2010 and "Mostly Jazz" on April 26, 2011. Evidently impressed, Ruth Eckerd Hall is devoting more support and advertising for the Clearwater Chorus!

Miriam Webster Definition: a feeling or mood associated with a particular place, person or thing : ATMOSPHERE

Ambience Music

Instrumental/no vocals -- used to be called "New Age". It is background music that is both quieting and stimulating. For your quintessentially unique listening experience I have taken over fifty of my original compositions, penned over the past forty years, and arranged them for solo piano or piano with accompaniment. This serene, understated mood music will help "set the tone" at your event. Please contact me for more information.

    About the Performer

Well... that's basically what the rest of this website is all about. Please, look around. Briefly: Grandson of a gifted violinist, schooled on piano at age 10, I became well-versed in guitar and bass. I have performed in rock, dance or pop bands on and off since 1977 (see Bands). We (or I) have won songwriting and performance awards and released numerous records, cassettes and CDs. I am currently a vocalist with the Clearwater Chorus.

    About the Ambience Music

For the past forty years I've been inspired or even compelled to write music (and often lyrics). The songs vary in complexity and style, but are all distinctive and unique. Several years ago I produced a CD called "No Words", of ambience songs (likely a more formal one is upcoming) to a very nice reception, for example:

Mark played for the opening day of my quilt shop, Crafty Threads. His music filled the shop with just the right amount of ambiance. There were many customers who commented on the music and how much they enjoyed it. I have requests for his CD's and have already invited him back to play for my Grand Opening Celebration! His mix of original music is unlike anything you have ever heard for background music - awesome! Thank you Mark! Barb Linares

I have performed some of these songs as full arrangments with various musical groups over the years, and performed sporatically as a solo pianist for background music at select local venues. Recently during a bout with unemployment, I began formalizing and arrangings songs from my reportoire specifically for ambience performances, and many of these songs have additional percussion and melody line accompaniment via MIDI sequencing. It has been a labor of love, but one to be proud of and to eagerly share with appreciative music listeners.
